AI tax software

German tax software for your GmbH — the returns, prepared with our own AI

Running a German company means a year-round stream of tax filings: monthly VAT advance returns, the annual corporate income tax and trade tax returns, wage-tax registrations and the E-Bilanz. Our Steuer module turns the same bookkeeping you already keep into ready-to-submit returns, using our own AI to read the figures, spot where the tax base departs from the commercial result, and draft each form. This page explains what the software covers and where the AI actually helps.

One tax module, every recurring German filing

The Steuer module sits next to your HGB financial statements and reuses the same numbers.

  • VAT advance return (Umsatzsteuer-Voranmeldung) and the annual VAT return, reconciled against the monthly filings.
  • EC Sales List (Zusammenfassende Meldung, § 18a UStG) for intra-EU supplies and services.
  • Corporate income tax (Körperschaftsteuer) with the reconciliation from the HGB result to taxable income, plus the KSt 1 return with Anlage GK and loss carry-forwards.
  • Trade tax (Gewerbesteuer) with add-backs, deductions, the base amount and your municipal multiplier, including apportionment across several municipalities.
  • Wage-tax registration (Lohnsteuer-Anmeldung, § 41a EStG), advance-payment schedules, the tax calendar and a running tax account.

Where our AI does the work

Reads your figures

The AI reads your trial balance and locked HGB statements and maps each account to the right line of every tax form — no re-keying numbers into a second system.

Flags HGB-vs-tax differences

A built-in safeguard checks a catalogue of items where the commercial balance sheet and the tax balance sheet diverge, so a difference is documented rather than silently carried over.

Drafts the returns

Corporate income tax, trade tax and the VAT returns are pre-filled from your data; you review, adjust and approve rather than start from a blank form.

Checks the assessment

When the tax office issues its assessment (Bescheid), the software reconciles it against your figures to the cent and tracks the appeal deadline (§ 355 AO).

Built for founders, not just tax advisers

Most German tax software assumes a trained Steuerberater is driving. This module is written so that a founder or in-house finance person can prepare a correct return, understand every add-back and deduction, and still hand a clean file to an adviser for a final review if they wish.

Because the tax figures are derived from the same HGB statements the platform already produced, there is a single source of truth. Change a booking, and the VAT return, the corporate income tax reconciliation and the trade tax base all move together — the AI keeps the mapping consistent instead of forcing a manual re-entry.

Submission via ELSTER

Every return is prepared in the official format the German tax authority expects.

Filings are built to the ELSTER data standard and carry the transfer tickets and transmission log you need for your records. Deadlines — the tenth-of-the-month VAT rhythm, the permanent extension (Dauerfristverlängerung) with its special advance payment, and the annual return dates — are surfaced in the tax calendar so nothing slips.

The module is currently in Beta and priced at 100 euros per month per workspace, covering every entity you manage in that workspace.

How it fits the wider platform

  • The E-Bilanz (§ 5b EStG) is generated from the same annual accounts and the Anlage GK of the corporate tax return draws on it.
  • The trade-tax and corporate-tax loss carry-forwards keep a continuous history per tax type (§ 10d EStG / § 10a GewStG).
  • Dividend distributions and the capital-gains-tax registration (Kapitalertragsteuer, § 43 EStG) are handled where they apply.
  • Personengesellschaften and sole traders are transparent for income tax, so the corporate-tax cards only appear for the legal forms that owe them.

Frequently asked questions

Which taxes does the module cover?

VAT (advance and annual returns, EC Sales List), corporate income tax with its reconciliation and KSt 1 return, trade tax including multi-municipality apportionment, wage-tax registration, capital-gains tax on distributions, plus the E-Bilanz. It also tracks advance payments, deadlines and tax-office assessments.

Do I still need a Steuerberater?

Not necessarily. The software is designed so a founder can prepare and file correct returns. You can still involve an adviser for a review — the exported file and the documented HGB-vs-tax reconciliation make that hand-off straightforward.

How does the AI avoid overstating or understating tax?

The AI maps your figures to the forms and a separate safeguard flags the roughly thirty catalogued points where the tax balance sheet departs from the commercial one. Differences are surfaced for a decision rather than taken over unnoticed; the software never invents numbers.

Is the return actually transmitted to the tax office?

Returns are prepared in the official ELSTER format with transfer tickets and a transmission log. Deadlines and the permanent extension are managed inside the module's tax calendar.

What does it cost and is it live?

The Steuer module is in Beta at 100 euros per month per workspace. It covers every entity in that workspace, and you can register for free and explore the live demo before subscribing.
